O projektu

EUdict (European dictionary) je skup više online rječnika za jezike koji se većinom govore u Europskoj uniji. Rječnici su rezultat rada više autora koji su uložili veliki trud u njihovu izradu te ih besplatno ponudili na internetu i tako svima nama olakšali međusobnu komunikaciju. Neki od rječnika imaju tek nekoliko tisuća riječi, a neki i preko 250,000. Ukupno ima 400 jezičnih parova i preko 10,6 milijuna prijevoda! Poneka riječ u njima može biti krivo prevedena. Pogledajte popis dostupnih jezičnih parova. EUdict je online od 9. svibnja 2005., a englesko<>hrvatski rječnik na tkuzmic.com od 16. lipnja 2003.

Mogućnosti

Postoji nekoliko načina za korištenje ovog rječnika. Najčešće korišteni način je unosom tražene riječi (morate znati na kojem je jeziku) ali možete također koristiti i polje za pretraživanje vašeg web preglednika (vidi tablice dolje) ili bookmarklete (favlete).
Dva su japansko-engleska (i japansko-francuska) rječnika, a jedan sadrži Kanji u japanskom, a Kana elemente u engleskom dijelu prijevoda (zbog boljeg pretraživanja). Iz istog razloga kineski rječnik sastoji se od termina na tradicionalnom i pojednostavljenom pismu s jedne strane i pinyina i engleskog termina s druge.

Inačica za mobilne uređaje

Postoji inačica EUdicta optimizirana za mobilne uređaje kao što su iPhone i drugi "pametni" telefoni (telefoni koji imaju kompletan operacijski sustav, npr. Android, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Symbian, Palm webOS...). EUdict za mobilne uređaje potražite na eudict.com/mobile/indexHr.php, a verziju za starije mobitele (samo na eng. jeziku) na eudict.com/m.

Integracija u preglednik

Možda najbolji način za prevođenje je integracija rječnika u pretraživačko polje preglednika. Da biste dodali EUdict uz Google, Yahoo, Amazon i ostale pretraživače u Mozilla Firefox i Internet Explorer, kliknite na link dolje sa željenim jezičnim parom te potvrdite svoju odluku. Kasnije iz padajuće liste (nalazi se na desnoj strani trake "Navigation Toolbar") odaberete EUdict i jednostavno unesete riječ i pritisnete "Enter". Korisnici Internet Explorera 8+ mogu koristiti ubrzivače (akceleratore). Za korisnike Firefoxa and Internet Explorera postoje i pretraživački dodaci.

U web pregledniku Opera je malo kompliciranije. Da biste dodali pretragu, odaberite željeni jezični par iz padajuće liste na vrhu stranice (npr. "Engleski=>Hrvatski"), a zatim u polje za unos riječi pokraj padajuće liste kliknite desnom tipkom (Ctrl-klik na Macintoshu) i odaberite "Create search" iz izbornika. Unesite ime za pretragu (npr. "Engleski=>Hrvatski [EUdict.com]") i ključnu riječ (npr. "engcro") pa kliknite OK. Nakon integracije, Opera nudi nekoliko vrsta pretrage: možete unijeti riječ u polje za pretraživanje ili dvostruko kliknuti na riječ i uporabiti naredbu "Search with". Treći način je korištenjem samo tipkovnice: utipkajte "engcro tražena riječ" u adresnoj traci.

Bookmarkleti

Da biste omogućili prevođenje neke riječi s bilo koje stranice, koristite bookmarklete. Bookmarklet je mali JavaScript kôd koji se pohrani kao omiljeni link (favorit) u vašem web pregledniku.

Savjeti i trikovi

Ukoliko neko potrebno slovo nemate na tipkovnici, jednostavno ga odaberite iz padajuće liste. Za ovu opciju, kao i za bookmarklete, potrebno je imati omogućen JavaScript u pregledniku. Za brzi pristup okviru za unos riječi pritisnite Alt + I (u Internet Exploreru i Firefoxu 1.x), Alt + Shift + I (u Firefoxu) i Shift + Esc + I (u Operi). Ako ne uspijete dodati bookmarklet u Mozilla Firefoxu na gore opisani način, postoji još jedan način. Kliknite desnom tipkom miša na link i odaberite naredbu "Bookmark this link...". Zatim taj link iz bookmarka možete odvući na Bookmarks Toolbar.
Ako niti jedna riječ nije unesena, abecedni popis odabrat će riječ slučajnim odabirom iz englesko-hrvatskog rječnika.
